UTICA, NY- The Utica University women's lacrosse team fell to nationally ranked No. 15 Hamilton College 23-6 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.
Utica trailed just 4-2 through the first 7:30 minutes of the first quarter, but Hamilton closed out the quarter with a string of seven straight goals. The Continentals extended their lead to 17-4 at halftime.
Junior
Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the way with a pair of goals for the Pioneers. Senior
Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) and graduate student
Ashley Guerra (Ionia, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima ) each had a goal and an assist.
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and
Daniela Muscari (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook) also scored for Utica.
Hamilton had 12 different goal scorers on the day, led by Olivia Seymour, who had five goals and two assists.
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) made five saves in the loss, while Maeve Luparello and Kaitlin Reed combined for six saves.
The Pioneers (11-4) will return to action Saturday as they take on Nazareth College in the Empire 8 Conference semifinal at St. John Fisher College. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
