Last Time Out: Last weekend, the Pioneers hit the road for the 2022 Blue Devil Clarion Classic, hosted by Fredonia State. Despite a strong second half comeback attempt, the Utica University women's soccer team fell to Fredonia 3-2 in the waning minutes of its Friday afternoon match against the Blue Devils. Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville ) got the Pioneers going with a strike in the 66th minute for an unassisted goal that drew Utica to within one goal of Fredonia. Just over three minutes later, Lamphere struck again to even the score at two off of a Julianna Beaulieu (Chicopee,MA/Chicopee Comprehensive) pass for her first assist of the season. On Saturday, the Pioneers and their opponent, the Oswego State Lakers, battled to a 0-0 draw on the shores of Lake Erie to round out the weekend. The Lakers out-shot the Pioneers 10-4, with a combined total of four shots finding the goal frame. Goalkeeper Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) made three saves to earn the clean sheet. Newcomer Kayla Giovingo (Centereach, NY/Centereach) had Utica's lone shot on goal.

Fast Out of the Gate: Although she has not recorded a point over her last three games, graduate student Jacinta Kaminski (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) currently leads the Empire 8 conference and the team in assists with four. Her dominate season-opening performance against SUNY Poly has still allowed her to be the top-dog in the E8. Junior Julianna Beaulieu (Chicopee,MA/Chicopee Comprehensive) has also had a nice start to her collegiate soccer career. The two-sport athlete currently sits third on the Empire 8 points leaderboard with five stemming from two goals and one assist.

Player of the Week: Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville ) was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Lamphere was responsible for both Pioneer goals this weekend as the team played two games at the Blue Devil Clarion Classic, hosted by Fredonia. On Friday, Lamphere brought the team out of a 2-0 first half deficit, with goals coming less than five minutes apart in the 66th and 70th minutes. Lamphere netted both goals on her two shot attempts of the weekend. Lamphere currently leads the Empire 8 conference in goals with three in only four games played.

About Potsdam: The SUNY Potsdam Bears are currently 2-3 on the season after going 1-1 at the New England College Tournament this past weekend. Potsdam forward Sarah Emmi, and midfielder Brigid Clark each netted one goal over the weekend for the Bears. Emmi and Clark are currently tied for the team lead in goals. In goal for the Bears, freshman Rylee Semco has posted a 66.7 save percentage with 14 saves over three games played.

Scouting Hamilton: The Hamilton College Continentals are 1-0-1 on the season after winning their season opener at Williams College 1-0, and drawing at Trinity College 1-1. Maddie Leadbury and Hyla Mosher have both netted single goals over both games for the Continentals. Leadbury and Mosher are both tied for the team lead in goals. Goalkeeper Nieve Tonna has made 10 stops, and only has one goal against in two games. The Continentals are set to square off against SUNY Oswego and Middlebury before coming to Utica.

Up Next: The team will host Medaille University for its Empire 8 opener at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 from Pioneer Field.
