ROCHESTER, NY - The Utica University women's soccer team drops their first Empire 8 matchup of the season against the Nazareth Golden Flyers 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The long goal of the game for either team came 20 minutes into the match. Makaelynn Neivel found Tatum Overton as she snuck one past
Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 victory. The Pioneers only shot on goal in the first 45 minutes was registered by
Gabriela Daumont (Latham, NY/Shaker).
Nazareth finished with a 10-3 shot on goal advantage.
Samantha Kogut (North Adams, MA/Drury),
Rory Richard (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) and
Gabriela Daumont (Latham, NY/Shaker) were responsible for Utica's three shots on goal.
Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) made some fantastic saves down the stretch for Utica as she snagged nine saves on the day. Connolly's nine saves is her second most on the season.
Utica (7-4-3, 3-1-3 Empire 8) returns home for a non-conference matchup against St. Lawrence University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
