UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's tennis team is set to begin another busy week with three games. The team will host SUNY Delhi on Wednesday, April 5 at 4 p.m. before traveling to face Alfred on Friday, April 7 at 4 p.m. Utica will conclude its week hosting Alfred on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Utica University men's tennis team fell to St. John Fisher 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers dominated in doubles securing two of their three victories in duos. The tandem of
Hunter Sanford (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and
Bradley Litz (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham) was terrific winning their doubles match 8-1. While the duo of
Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) and
Gaynay Doo (Utica, NY/Proctor) also took him a doubles victory winning 8-6.
Hunter Sanford (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) continued his fantastic day winning his singles match in a tough three set battle. Sanford dropped the first set 6-3 yet bounced back to win the next two sets 6-4 and 7-6 to complete a perfect 2-0 day for him between singles and doubles.
Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) and
Bradley Litz (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham) fought hard in their single matches, yet ultimately fell late.

Heating Up: Hunter Sanford (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) has started to break into mid-season form after picking up his first singles win of the season against Fisher. Sanford fell in the first set, yet bounced back to earn his victory in singles play this season. Sanford then won his duos match with
Bradley Litz (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham) as his partner to move the pairs record to 2-2 in duos this season.Â

Lighting it Up: The duo of
Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) and
Richard Nguyen (Utica, NY/Proctor) had a strong outing against Fisher as well and beat the Cardinals aces 8-6 in doubles play. The tandem of Bruce and Nguyen has had a tough task facing the opponents aces yet has fared well with a 1-1 record this season. The tandem is a crucial part of Utica's success and the two look to keep the winning ways rolling as the season rolls on.Â

Scouting Delhi: The Broncos are 2-4 this season and 1-3 in NAC play. In its last outing the team beat Mount Saint Mary (NY) 8-1 on Wednesday, April 29. Jarod Rackliffe leads the way in singles with a perfect 4-0 record in singles play this season. Rackliffe and Christopher Balogh are the team's top threat in doubles play with a 2-2 record in duos.

Looking at Alfred: The Saxons are 2-6 this season and are 0-3 in Empire 8 play thus far. In its last outing the team fell to Houghton 9-0 on Friday, March 31. Samuel Adu-Tutu, Wes Dennison, and Jeffery Merejo are all 1-0 in singles. Wes Dennison and Nate Cole sport a 1-0 record in duos while the pairs of Walker Waldon/Matthew Hibbert and Mark Ungurian/Evan Kent are also 1-0.
