Box Score UTICA, NY - The Utica University field hockey team fell to the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles 6-1 in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) tallied Utica's lone goal of the game with an assist coming from
Shannon Jedreicich (Deer Park, NY/Half Hollow Hills East).
Madison Ranalli (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) made a pair of defensive saves while
Nicole Servider (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) and
Ryleigh Johnson (Camden, NY/Camden) each had one.
In goal,
Desirae Baumann (Accord, NY/Rondout Valley) allowed four goals and made four saves in 35 minutes of play in the losing effort.
Hannah Young (Jordanville, NY/Little Falls) totaled three saves with a pair of goals allowed over 25 minutes of action.
Brockport scored its first goal six minutes into the first quarter before netting its second with just under three minutes to play in the frame. The Pioneers had one look on goal in the second that was saved while the Eagles added an insurance goal heading into halftime.
The second half started out with Brockport jumping to a 4-0 edge just over two minutes into the fresh quarter which would ultimately take the visitors into the fourth with a 4-0 advantage.
Utica broke through with 11 minutes to go in the contest when
Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) poked one through to the bottom corner of the cage on a nice look by Jedreicich to come within three. However, the Eagles went on to score twice more to pull away with the five-goal win.
Utica (1-4, 0-0 Empire 8) will hit the road on Saturday to take on Keystone College at 6 p.m.
