ONEONTA, NY - The Utica University Pioneers women's soccer team drew with the Hartwick Hawks Wednesday evening, 1-1.

Utica and Hartwick played a close and competitive match. Hartwick edged Utica in shots 11-3 while the Hawks held a 4 to 2 shot on goal advantage.Â

Both teams went back and forth in the first half.
Julianna Beaulieu (Southwick, MA/Chicopee Comprehensive),
Rory Richard (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent), and
Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville) each recorded one shot. The teams entered halftime with the Hawks having a 6-2 edge in shots. Both goalkeepers from their respective teams had one save in the first half.Â

The second half saw plenty of action as
Julianna Beaulieu (Southwick, MA/Chicopee Comprehensive) would get the Pioneers on the board with an assist from
Rory Richard (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) at the 53rd minute putting Utica up 1-0. This was Beaulieu's second goal of the season, tied for third on Utica. Richard recorded her second assist of the season as she sits alone in second on the team behind Lamphere's four. At the 78th minute Hartwick's Madi McGuire capitalized on a penalty kick to even the game 1-1.Â

Courtney Connolly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) started in goal for Utica saving three shots, two coming in the second half.Â

Utica(4-3-2, 0-0-2 Empire 8) will host Houghton University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
