UTICA, NY - The Utica University volleyball team is set for three matches this week. The team will host cross-town rival and Empire 8 Conference newcomer SUNY Poly on Wednesday, October 2 at 7pm. The team will then travel to take on the Russell Sage College Gators on Friday, October 4 at 7pm in Schenectady, NY before returning home on Saturday, October 5 to take on the Hartwick College Hawks. Game time on Saturday is set for 1pm.

Last Time Out: Leading the way for the Pioneers in the team's 3-1 win over SUNY Cobleskill was
Meghan Brennan (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) who slammed home 14 kills in the contest, followed by
Megan Wright (Clay Center, KS/Clay Center Community) who notched nine and
Trinity Bailey (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) with eight. Lending a helping hand with the offensive onslaught was
Lauren Jones (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) who tallied 30 assists on the night and
Alicia Ancewicz (Greenlawn, NY/John Glenn) who tallied twelve. At the service line, Brennan and Wright each recorded two aces and
Jada Anthony (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) recorded one. On defense,
Cassandra Wagemann (Diamond Point, NY/Lake George) led the defensive efforts for the Pioneers, recording 15 digs, with Wright recording 13 and
Liv Leider (Homestead, FL/Felix Varela) recording 12. At the net,
Jada Anthony (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) was a force to be reckoned with, tallying three blocks. Bailey recorded two blocks on the night as well.
Hammer Time: Outside hitter,
Meghan Brennan (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) had a fantastic game against SUNY Cobleskill, reaching a career high 14 kills and is currently leading the team in kills and aces along with
Megan Wright (Clay Center, KS/Clay Center Community). Brennan had a .480 attack percentage against The Fighting Tigers, the highest this season.
Absolutely Serving: Seven Pioneers have recorded at least one ace so far this season. Utica has totalled 73 aces this season averaging 2 per set. Jauren Jones leads the team and is currently seventh in the conference with 21 aces this season.

Megan Wright (Clay Center, KS/Clay Center Community) follow Jones with 15, Brennan is sixth in the conference.
Defense: Megan Wright (Clay Center, KS/Clay Center Community) and
Cassandra Wagemann (Diamond Point, NY/Lake George) have maintained their top two spots in the conference leaderboard in digs after taking down Cobleskill with 177 and 173 total digs on the season so far, respectively. Wagemann totaled 15 digs and one assist against the Fighting Tigers. Wright collected 13 digs, and nine kills against Cobleskill. Both Wright and Wagemann helped the Pioneers to a 3-1 win.
About Poly: SUNY Poly has a 1-8 overall record this season. The Pioneers are on a five game win streak against the Wildcats, winning four of those games 3-0. On offense, Kaylee Degrout and Daniella Alluisio lead the team in kills with 44 and 36. Brook Durfee leads the team with 11 service aces. Daniella Aluisio also leads the team in digs with 56 averaging 2.33 per set, followed by Samantha Dee with 55 digs.
Scouting Sage: The Sage Gators are 10-6 overall. The Pioneers have won the last two games against The Gators by a score of 3-0 in both games. Macy Salvione leads the team and is second in the Empire 8 for Kills this season with 216, averaging 4 kills per set. Ashleigh Gerkman is second for the team with 100 kills, averaging 1.96 per set. Macy Salvione also leads the team and conference in service aces, totaling 45 and averaging .83 per set. Katelyn Atchison leads the team and is sixth in the conference for digs, totalling 212 and averaging 3.93 per set. Monalissa Carius leads the team in solo blocks with 8, followed by Caitlin Hammecker with 7.
Looking at Hartwick: The Hawks are undefeated with a 10-0 record on the season so far. Stacecia Silofau is fifth in the Empire 8, and leads the team in kills this season with 114 kills averaging 3.17 per set. Shelby Swartz follows Silofau with kills this season, sitting at sixth in the conference and second for the Hawks, totalling 112 and averaging 3.03 per set. Silofau leads the team in digs with 111 overall and averaging 3.08 per set, putting her 10th in the conference. Braelyn Hornick leads the team and is sixth in the conference for service aces with 22, averaging .59 per set. Aaliyah Williams and Isabella Gracias are three and seven in the Empire 8 for blocks this season with seven and four solo blocks respectively. Braelyn Mornick leads the conference with assists, totalling 434, averaging 9.27 per set.
