CLINTON, NY - The Utica University men's soccer team dropped its mid-week game 2-1 against the Hamilton Continentals on Tuesday evening.
Anderson Velazquez (Norwood, NY/Marble Hill) scored Utica's lone goal, while
Zachary Accetta (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) had a career night in goal.

Velazquez led the Pioneers with one goal on three shots.
Noah Nassberg (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast),
Nico Leonard (Long Beach Township, NJ/Southern Regional),
Noah Scranton (Utica, NY/Whitesboro),
Marcos Gadea (/),
Joseph Cavallo (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central),
Maximilian Pawlowski (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) and
Mason Bucher (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) tallied at least one shot.

Accetta got the start in goal for Utica, making a career-high 11 saves. Not only was it a career-high, but it was also a season-high for the Pioneers.

The Continentals scored first on a penalty kick attempt by Luke Peplowski, giving Hamilton a 1-0 lead with 20 minutes to play in the first half. At 15:10, Accetta made a beautiful save, keeping the score at one and totaling four saves in the first half. With 6:20 to play, Hamilton scored their second goal, taking a 2-0 advantage into halftime.

20 minutes into the second half, Velazquez scored and cut the lead to 2-1. He is now tied for second on the team with three goals. No more goals were scored in the second as Hamilton went on to win 2-1. Accetta made seven saves in the second half.

Utica (2-8-6, 1-5-3 Empire 8) hosts SUNY Brockport for Senior Day on Saturday, October 26, at 7 p.m. The Match will be played at Laura M. Casamento Field.
