CANTON, NY - The Utica University women's soccer team fell in its final non-conference matchup against the St. Lawrence Saints by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Bella Noble (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) recorded two shots with one falling on goal.
Rylee Lamphere (Little Falls, NY/Dolgeville),
Grace Oliver (Auburn, NY/Auburn), and
Grace Maury (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) each recorded one shot, with Maury's shot falling on goal. Goalkeepers
Emily Duro (Wappinger Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and
Hannah Pcola (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) split the effort, with each allowing one goal. Duro recorded four saves in the first half and Pcola recorded three in the second.
St. Lawrence would get the offense going early, scoring the opening goal in only the third minute. Utica would record its first shot of the game in the fourth minute off the foot of Lamphere, but her efforts would be blocked by a Saints defender.
The second half would see the same offensive pressure from the Saints, recording its first shot of the frame in the 47th minute. Utica would retaliate with an offensive effort of its own courtesy of
Bella Noble (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) that would go right of the goalkeeper and out of bounds.
Utica (4-10-2, 2-5-2 Empire 8) returns to action Saturday, October 26 as the team travels to take on Empire 8 Conference newcomer SUNY Brockport. Game time in Brockport, NY is set for 3pm.
