UTICA, NY - Pioneer Men's Hockey held their second exhibition on Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center against the SUNY Potsdam Bears. The game was a rugged affair, featuring over 13 penalties between both squads. After being knotted up at two heading into the second period, the #4 ranked Pioneers used their overwhelming offensive presence to shut the Bears out during the final 40 minutes of play, securing a 7-2 win in their final exhibition contest.
 
For the second game in a row, the Pioneers had a different player score each goal, with seven different players contributing a goal in the winning effort.
 
Drake Morse (Grand Rapids, MI/Shreveport Mudbugs (NAHL)), Gabriel Lundberg (Gothenburg, Sweden/Janesville Jets (NAHL)), Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, ON/Georgetown Raiders (OJHL)), and Johnny Mulera (Rockville, MD/Salve Regina University (NCAA DIII)) each had one goal and one assist in Friday's action.
 
Eric Vitale (Toronto, ON/Shreveport Mudbugs (NAHL)), Matt Wood (Garnet Valley, PA/Richmond Generals (USPHL)), and Chris Carroll (Islip, NY/New Jersey Titans (NAHL)) rounded out the scorers for the Pioneers, with Wood's goal registering as a shorthanded score.
 
Jakob Breault (Acton Vale, QC/Alaska-Fairbanks (NCAA DI)), John Gutt (Middletown, NJ/Utica JR Comets (NCDC)), Shane Murphy (Oriskany, NY/Danbury Hat Tricks (NAHL)), and Ben Schultheis (Mount Juliet, TN/Ferris State University (NCAA DI)) also pitched in one assist each.
 
Each goaltender saw playing time for the Pioneers, with the cage-minders each participating in one period of play.
 
The Pioneers will look to take their pre-season momentum into next weekend's season-opening contests against #3 ranked Adrian College. Those two games will take place in Adrian, Michigan on Saturday, November 2nd and Sunday, November 3rd.
