UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's wrestling team completed their day at the NYS Collegiate Championships on Saturday evening.
Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) took first place overall in the 133lb weight class.

Cortright began the day defeating Marek Sokolowski of Onondaga CC in dominant fashion, 15-0 (tech fall). He went on to beat Kenji Walters of RIT by major decision, 16-3. Cortright was able to record three take-downs in the third period, securing a decisive victory.

In the championship match against Matthew Reehil of SUNY Brockport, Cortright took control the whole match winning 9-2. He tallied one takedown and two near-falls to secure the win.

Xavier DeJesus (Hornell, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) showed a great effort, taking fifth place overall along with his first collegiate win. He started the day by defeating Jj Lucinski of SUNY Oswego by decision, 10-3. He then beat Ayden Downing of Niagara CC (TF 18-2). DeJesus fell in the semifinal to Billy Colloca of SUNY Oneonta (decision, 7-5). In his fifth-place match, the freshman defeated Christain Median of Ithaca.

Hunter Morton (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Hills) (157lb) went to distance before falling in the quarterfinals to Ryler Monica of SUNY Oneonta. He won his first match against Borese Antropoc of RIT by fall in 2:02. He then won 8-3 by decision over Brandaon Drummond of SUNY Brockport.
