Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) take fourth place overall in the 133lb bracket at the NCAA Region 1 Division III qualifying round hosted by Wesleyan University (CT).

Cortright is the first wrestler in the program's two years of existence to place in the NCAA qualifying round.

He began the morning in the semifinal with a 14-6 major decision loss to reigning national champion, Chase Randall of Coast Guard.Â

In the consolation semifinal, he beat Max Martinez of Wesleyan (CT) by fall in 2:42.Â

In the third-place match, Cortright fell to Caden Frost of New England College by decision (10-4). The wrestlers entered the third period tied at three, but Frost scored a takedown and nearfall in the third period to secure the win.Â

Cortright has placed top-four in all tournaments this season with his best performance coming at the SUNYAC Championships where he won first place. He also took first at the NYS Collegiate Championships and placed third at the RIT Invitational.Â
