UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's track and field team wrapped up its day at the Utica University CNY Valentine Alternative on Saturday evening. No team results were recorded at this event.
Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda Fultonville) placed eighth in a very competitve 3000m event that saw 4 NCAA top 50 performances. Melita's time broke the school record and qualifies him for the AARTFC championships.
Louis Pinto (Clinton, NY/Clinton) took fifth place in the high jump scoring a 1.72m jump.
The men's shot put saw Isaiah Anighoro,
Thomas Dunn () and
Michael McNeil (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) place in the top 10. Anighoro grabbed fifth place with a 12.57m throw, Dunn took sixth (12.41m) and McNeil took seventh with a 12.31m toss.
Justin Valentin (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) had a great outing in the 60m hurdles taking fifth place in a time of 8.96
The 60m dash was a great success for Utica as six runners placed in the top 10.
Nicholas Peccia (/Lafayette) took third place (7.64),
Byamungu Mugushu (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) snagged fourth (7.69), Makhi Cleophat placed sixth (7.74),
Theodore Tsamis (Richmondville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) grabbed eighth place (7.86), Robert Jackson placed ninth (7.86) and
Zane Lepage (Penfield, NY/Penifield) snagged tenth (7.90).
Utica travels to Hamilton, NY for the Colgate University Meet on Saturday, February 17 at 11 a.m.
