UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's track and field team wrapped up its day at the Utica University CNY Valentine Alternative on Saturday evening. No team results were recorded at this event.
Utica saw a handful of athletes pick up a first-place win in their respective events.
Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) won the high jump event out of 11 competitors with a 1.57m jump. Jada Anthony placed sixth scoring a 1.37m jump.
The long jump saw
Stefania Grimaldi (Poland, NY/Poland Central) and
Alyssa Youngs (Constableville/West Canada Valley) place in the top 10. Grimaldi placed fourth and scored a 4.48m jump followed by Youngs scoring a 4.74m jump and taking fifth place.
The weight throw event was dominated by Utica as five throwers placed in the top 10 out of over 25 athletes. Freshman
Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) had another great performance taking second place and scoring a 14.64m throw followed by
Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Royce Ketcham) placing fourth (13.93m).
Sarah Florian (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) took sixth place (13.35m),
Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) grabbed seventh (12.83m) and
Ranasia Bailey (Parish, NY/Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) rounded out the top 10 in ninth with a 12.42m toss.
Cassondra Wood (Canasota, NY/Canasota) had a great performance on pole vault, placing first and clearing 3.00.
Sophia Bruce (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) placed first in the triple jump with a 10.22m jump.
In the 60m hurdle event, Grimaldi had a fantastic day as she took first place in a time of 9.96.
Zeniyah Gholson (Monticello, NY/Monticello),
Ayjah Clarke (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) placed first and second in the 60m dash. Gholson placed first in a time of 8.34 followed by Clarke in second placing running the 60m in 8.38.
Noella Burlette (Manchester, CT/Manchester) took seventh place in the mile run, running a time of 5:56.02.
Utica travels to Hamilton, NY for the Colgate University Meet on Saturday, February 17 at 11 a.m.
