Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and
Ryan Considine (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) have been named the Pioneer Athletes of the Week for the week of April 6th, 2026.
Cary opened a dominant weekend at the Red Dragon Open with standout performances in the hammer and discus. She placed fourth in the hammer (47.57m), a mark that landed her third on the program's all-time leaderboard, before winning the discus with a 44.30m throw, taking first place by 6.35m, breaking the program record, and ranking ninth nationally in NCAA Division III at the time. Cary carried that momentum into Saturday in Utica, continuing her impressive run with three more event titles. She won the hammer with a 47.34m toss, added a victory in the shot put at 12.85m, and secured the discus title with a 36.90m mark. Cary finished the weekend with four total wins, showcasing her dominance across all throwing events.
Cary and the track & field team will head down the road to Hamilton College this Saturday, participating in this weekend's Continental Spring Invite, which gets underway at 10:00 AM.
Considine and the Pioneers played in two Empire 8 conference games this past week, hosting St. John Fisher on Wednesday before hitting the road to face Keuka on Saturday. In a valiant 18-10 loss to the #11-ranked Cardinals, Considine led Utica with four goals and two assists, the only Pioneer to achieve either three goals or a second assist. He followed that performance with a three-goal, six-assist outing against the Wolves to help propel the orange and blue to an 18-5 victory, the squad's first of 2026. His 15 points in the two games would already rank third-best on the team's season-long stats, and just one short of a tie for second.
Considine and the men's lacrosse team will face two major tests this week as the race for the Empire 8 Tournament heats up. They'll face SUNY Poly on Wednesday over on Wildcat Field, before returning to Gaetano Stadium to host Brockport this weekend in the team's annual Mike Parnell game. Wednesday's matchup begins at 4:00 PM, while Saturday is slated for a 1:00 PM start time. Both opponents are directly in front of the Pioneers in the current Empire 8 standings.
