ROCHESTER, NY - Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) of the Utica University women's outdoor track and field team as been named this week's Empire 8 Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. 

Cary made her first appearance of the outdoor season in the shot put at the Blue and White Invitational, hosted by Lebanon Valley College on Saturday. In the event, Cary took home first place with a 12.81m toss, posting a new personal best and finishing in second on the program's all-time leader board.

Cary and the Pioneers will be back in action on home turf this weekend as the team hosts the Utica Spring Invitational on Friday, April 3 beginning at 2pm, and Saturday, April 4 beginning at 9am.
