Women's Indoor Track and Field Readies For Harvard Invite

UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's indoor track and field team will travel to Cambridge, MA for the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, January 31, with events beginning at 10am.

Off to a Fast Start: The women's 4x200m relay team of Laura Suppa (Canastota, NY/Canastota), Arianna McClendon (Rome, NY/New York Mills), Amelia Peterson, and Shiann Williams (Bronx, NY/Hydel) placed first with a time of 1:45.48, the second fastest time in program history and nearly a full second ahead of second place. 
 
On The Track: The sprint group returns to action led by Williams and Suppa after powering the winning 4x200m relay at Ithaca. Suppa placed second with a 8.79 finish and Olivia Jensen (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) placed eighth with a 10.10 finish in 60m hurdles, Jensen claimed tenth in the conference. Townsend headlines the distance efforts following her strong 5000m performance, locking up first in the conference and third in the schools all-time record list after her 18:32.03 finish. Williams and Arianna McClendon (Rome, NY/New York Mills) placed second and eighth in the 400m with times of 1:00.32 and 1:03.59 respectively. Williams moves to second and McClendon moves to tenth in the Empire 8 conference. Cathrine Manna took home fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:25.99. 
 
In The Field: Utica throwers have shown consistent strength, with Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) both moving through the program's all-time top 10 in the weight throw. In the weight throw, Hrouda, Cary and Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) took home fourth, sixth and seventh with marks of 15.09, 14.56, and 14.44 respectively. Hrouda now ranks second and King moves to ninth in the conference, Hrouda also claims fourth in all-time program history. Cary and Ranasia Bailey (Parish, NY/Altmar-Parish-Williamstown) took home third and ninth in shot put marking 12.23 and 10.58. Bailey ranks tenth in the conference after her outing. Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) cleared 1.59m in the high jump which was good enough to take home third and move to second in the conference. 
 
Up Next: The Pioneers will host the Blue and Orange Invitational with day one set to start February 6th at 5 pm and day two set to start February 7th at 11 am.
