PITTSFORD, NY - The Utica University men's track and field placed first at the 2024 Outdoor Empire 8 Championships on Saturday at Polisseni T&F Complex at St. John Fisher University. The team scored 213 points, followed by Nazareth in second place with 202 points.

The 4x100 team of
Nyles Rogers (Suffern, NY/Suffern),
Andy Hadasz (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro),
Connor Dean (Taberg, Ny/Camden) and
Ethan Kain (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) took first place with a mark of 42.38. This is the fourth straight league title during outdoor season that a Utica 4x100 team has won this event.

Utica took the top-four spots in the shot put, while
Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) continued his conference dominance winning his third consecutive outdoor championship with a distance of 16.39m. This mark sets a new outdoor Empire 8 Championships meet record.

Rounding out the shot put event,
Billie Mays III (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) placed second with a 14.14m distance followed by
Justin Swavely's (Rome, NY/RFA) third-place finish of 13.98m.
Michael McNeil (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) took fourth place reaching a 13.71m distance.

Utica took the top two spots in the 100m,
Andy Hadasz (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) placed first with a 10.78 finish.
Ethan Kain (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) finished second scoring an 11.18.

Utica took the top two places in the 200m. Hadasz took first place running in a time of 22.04 followed by Kain in second with a 22.79 mark.

Kaiden McCaskill (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) placed second in the triple jump with a 12.94m leap. He took first place in the high jump with a 1.94m mark.

The 4x400m team of
Ethan Kain (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford),
Evan Smith (Baldwinsville, NY/Baker),
Tristan Vargo (East Aurora, NY/Orchard Park) and
Connor Dean (Taberg, Ny/Camden) took second place in a time of 3:26.03.

Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda Fultonville) placed second in the 5000m with a 15:25.05 mark.

Men's track and field will travel to Williamstown, MA for the Farley Inter Regional, hosted by Williams College. The meet will take place on Friday, May 10 at noon and Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m.
