OSWEGO, NY - The Utica women's tennis team took a trip up to Ontario Lake on Wednesday for their season-opening match. The group participated in a series of singles and doubles matchups, with a couple rookie racket-bearers getting their first action in the orange and blue. At the end of the night, the Pioneers fell to the Lakers, but will look forward to a season full of growth and great moments.
Callie Ott (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy),
Lyndsey Tiedemann (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D Roosevelt),
Jackie Roberts (Herkimer, NY/Notre Dame),
Victoria Elefante (Clinton, NY/Clinton), and
Paetra Heeren (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) all participated in a series of singles and doubles matches, while Pioneer newcomer
Kimora-Lee Simmons (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) also saw action in both match types.
The 3 duos matches saw a couple team up efforts, with Simmons and Heeren pairing up in match 1, Ott and Tiedemann teaming up for match 2, and Elefante and Roberts joining forces for match 3.
The Pioneers will have a couple days to rest before heading to Houghton on Saturday for a matchup with the Highlanders.
