UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's tennis team dropped both of its matches this weekend, falling to Houghton University 9-0 and to Alfred University 9-0.

In doubles competition, the competition was tight. No Pioneer duo lost by more than four games. The second doubles duo of
Callie Ott (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and
Lyndsey Tiedemann (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D Roosevelt) and the third doubles duo of
Victoria Elefante (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and
Jackie Roberts (Herkimer, NY/Notre Dame) fought to end the set 5-8, while the first doubles duo of
Paetra Heeren (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) and
Kimora-Lee Simmons (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) fell in their effort 4-8.
In singles play,
Paetra Heeren (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) led the Pioneers in first singles though ultimately falling in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

In second doubles, the duo of Ott/Tiedemann was a bright spot for the Pioneers as they would win four games of their set. In sixth doubles,
Jackie Roberts (Herkimer, NY/Notre Dame) shined in her highly contested outing, only falling by two games in each set 6-4, 6-4.
Utica, (0-3, 0-2 Empire 8) will be back in action at home on Friday, September 20. Game time from the Utica Tennis Courts is slated for 3:30p.m.
