CLINTON, NY - The Utica University women's soccer team fell on the road this evening to the Hamilton College Continentals by a score of 4-0. 
 
The Pioneer offense was unable to get things going throughout the duration of the match, only recording two shots with one on goal for the entire contest. Ayla Flockton (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North) and Amber Piersma (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) were the only Pioneers to record a shot. In goal, Hannah Pcola (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) and Karen Troche (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) both made appearances between the pipes for Utica. In 60 minutes Pcola would make six saves, and in 30 minutes Troche would make five. 
 
The first half saw extreme offensive pressure from Hamilton, with the Continentals rifling off six shots in the first six minutes of the contest. It would be Maddie Ledbury that would break open the scoring for Hamilton in the 11th minute, squeezing one past the keeper Pcola. Hamilton would continue the momentum, not allowing the Pioneers into the offensive zone to be able to record a shot until the 21st minute, where Piersma would rifle one but was saved by Continental goalkeeper Olivia Connolly.
 
The second half saw the scoring come early, with Hamilton striking within the first eight minutes of the frame. The Continentals were able to score again just two minutes later in the 55th minute. The Pioneers would be able to hold Hamilton for the remainder of the half, with Flockton recording a shot that went wide of the net in the 70th minute. It wouldn't be until the final minutes of the final frame that the Continentals would find the back of the net again to end the game with a final score of 4-0.
 
Utica (2-4, 0-0 Empire 8) opens Empire 8 Conference play starting with a game against Houghton University. Game time in Houghton, NY on Saturday, September 21 is slated for 3:30pm.
