MADISON COUNTY, NY - Utica Men's and Women's Golf hit the green again yesterday for another 18-hole competition at Friday's SUNY Poly Invitational. The meet, which was held at Kanon Valley Country Club, saw the Pioneers procure a wealth of team and individual success, with the men achieving 1st place out of 7 and the women achieving 1st place out of 1.
Utica's 5 scoring golfers recorded a total team score of 312, narrowly beating out 2nd place Russell Sage who finished with 315. The 1st place victory was headlined by
Adam Woodmansee (Brewerton, NY/Paul V. Moore) who held a score of 73 at the end of the 18 holes. With the 18-hole par being set at 72, Woodmansee's total of 73 was an excellent round and led him to finish 1st out of 39 competitors.
Placing high alongside Woodmansee were fellow Pioneer men
Daniel Maloney () (5th, 78),
Neil Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (8th, 80),
Nathan Macdonald (Canton, MA/Canton) (10th, 81), and
Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, Ontario/Blyth Academy) (11th, 83).
The women also had an excellent outing, with superstar rookie
Alaina Weaver (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) (2nd, 87) achieving 2nd place out of 11 competitors and
Carly Stefanini (Framingham, MA/Brooks School) placing 6th (6th, 93).
The Utica women were the only full team participating, as the other participants competed individually. Despite that, they had an excellent day out on the range.
