Kyle Curtin (St. George, Ontario) has been named UCHC/Empire 8 Goalie of the Week for the week of November 24th.
Kyle Curtin (St. George, Ontario) accomplished an outstanding feat in his pair of road starts this past weekend at UCHC foe Manhattanville. The senior goaltender was spotless in the two-game sweep, completely shutting out the Valiants on their home ice as he held them scoreless in each game. Thanks to his efforts, the team was able to secure two 3-0 wins, improving their record to 4-0 in UCHC play. Curtin kept out 62 shots, making an enormous amount of saves while keeping the net clear. Thanks to his impressive weekend, Curtin boosted his season save percentage to .929 and lowered his season GAA to 2.01. The pair of shutouts was Utica's first since the 2024 UCHC Tournament, where they held Nazareth and Alvernia scoreless in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
Curtin and the #10-ranked Pioneers will compete in this weekend's Utica Thanksgiving Showcase, their annual Thanksgiving tournament held downtown at the Adirondack Bank Center. The team will match up with UMass Boston in the first round on Friday, before facing either Hamilton or Morrisville in the second game on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 PM.
