UTICA, NY - The Indoor men's track & field team completed day one at the Empire 8 championship. Utica saw multiple athletes place in the top five on Friday evening at the Todd & Jenn Hutton Dome.
Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) won his fourth consecutive indoor Empire 8 shot put championship. He marked an incredible 15.66m throw on his first attempt, while all other competitors that placed in the top 11 had at least two attempts.
Billie Mays III (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) placed ninth with a 14.01m throw,
Michael McNeil (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) took 11th (13.45m) and
Mike Rollins (Port Henry, NY/Moriah) in 12th (12.89m).
Tanner Warren (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) and
Ellis Urgent (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central) both made the podium in the 400m race. Warren placed fourth with a 49.66 sprint. Urgent placed eighth and ran the 400m in 50.16.
Urgent placed second in the long jump, marking a 6.99m leap and
Robert Lowry IV (Rochester, NY/Hilton) finished 12th (6.32m).
