POTSDAM, NY - Men's lacrosse falls 18-3 in their opening game of the season against SUNY Potsdam on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Hollenbeck (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W. Baker) led Utica with two goals on two shots on goal.
Ryan Considine (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored a goal, totaled seven shots on goal and scooped four ground balls.
Quinn Orsini (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) tallied the lone assist.Â

11 different players registered at least one caused turnover and three players had two (
Michael Mecca (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside),
Aaron Bergquist (Brewerton, NY/Central Square) and
Colin Musso (Auburn, NY/Auburn)).Â

Patrick Oswald (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) started in net and made 10 saves.
Jake Bowen (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) played the fourth quarter and recorded one saveÂ
Berquist and Oswald led the Pioneers with five ground balls each.
Gianpaul Cooper (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scooped four and Mecca, Musso, Orsisni and
Nolan Shea (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) had three.Â

Both teams combined for 10 shots on goal in the first quarter, six for Potsdam and four for Utica. Potsdam had 16 turnovers in the first half compared to Utica's 13.Â

Hollenbeck scored his first collegiate goal with 7:26 remaining in the second quarter and Considine notched a goal with six seconds left in the quarter as Potsdam took an 11-2 lead into the third quarter.Â

Potsdam outscored Utica seven to one in the second half, taking an 18-3 victory over the Pioneers.

Utica (0-1, 0-0 Empire 8) travels to nearby Hamilton College on Tuesday, March 4 for a 5 p.m. faceoff.Â
