UTICA, NY - Women's lacrosse falls 18-3 against No. 10 nationally ranked St. John Fisher University on Wednesday evening in E8 play.
Grace Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led Utica with two goals and
Courtney Fish (Albany, NY/Albany) tallied one.
Makayla Purdy (Shirley, NY/William Floyd) made nine saves along with three ground balls. She made five saves in the first half and four in the second.
Gracie Pacicca (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy),
Alexis Alteri (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and Purdy each totaled one caused turnover.
St. John Fisher was relentless on their ride all 60 minutes, forcing multiple turnovers in the middle of the field. Utica pressured Fisher into eight turnovers in the first half. The Cardinals would enter halftime with a 10-0 lead behind six different goal scorers.
Utica scored all three of their goals in the second half. The team did a great job working the ball around, forcing the Fisher defense to slide aggressively which caused two penalties, one resulting in a woman-up goal from Grace.
St. John Fisher closed the fourth quarter with three consecutive goals as they defeated Utica, 18-3.
Grace has 18 goals and six assists in the last five games and she is currently 14 points away from 200.
Utica (3-5, 0-2 Empire 8) travels to Keuka College for Empire 8 action on Saturday, April 5. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
