Men's Lacrosse Honored Its Five Seniors Against Geneseo

UTICA, NY - Men's Lacrosse dropped their final regular season matchup 20-2 against the SUNY Geneseo Knights. Before the first faceoff, the team honored its five seniors for Senior Day: Jake Beavers (Syracuse, NY/Solvay), Owen Mix (Henrietta, NY/Rush Henrietta), Andrew Sacco (New Haven, CT/North Haven), Patrick Oswald (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) and Steven Queen (Huntington, NY/Huntington)
 
Noah Erickson (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and Aaron Bergquist (Brewerton, NY/Central Square) each tallied one goal. Quinn Orsini (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) led Utica with 11 shots, five on goal. Erickson and Ryan Considine (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) combined for seven shots, four for Erickson and three for Considine. 
 
All three goalies saw time in the goal for the Pioneers. Oswald played 40 minutes and made eight saves. Mix made three saves in 12 minutes and Jake Bowen (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) made three saves in nine minutes. 
 
Cade Bourcy (Syracuse, NY/Skaneateles) went 6 for 10 from the faceoff X. Chase Nappi (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and Jack Caruso (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) combined for three faceoff wins. 
 
Michael Mecca (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside), Gianpaul Cooper (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Ryan Hollenbeck (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W. Baker), Colin Musso (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and Sacco each had one caused turnover. 
 
Geneseo scored first with 12:57 in the first quarter, taking an early 1-0 lead. With 5:39 remaining, Erickson scored, tying the game at one. The Knights would rattle off three goals before the end of the first as they entered the second with a 4-1 advantage. 
 
The Knights scored four goals in the opening five minutes of the second quarter to take an 8-1 lead with 10:00 left. With 7:10 on the clock, Berquist scored after he went coast-to-coast, running right through the Geneseo defense, making it an 8-2 game.
 
Geneseo combined for 11 goals in the second half as they took home a 20-2 victory.
