BROCKPORT, NY - The sixth-seeded Pioneers fell short on Tuesday evening to the third-seeded SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles 16-2 in the first round of the Empire 8 Tournament.

Bella Kolb (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) and
Maria Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) scored one goal each.
Grace Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) posted eight draw control wins, and
Alexis Alteri (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and Maria had two draw wins each.

Makayla Purdy (Shirley, NY/William Floyd) made three saves in the goal.

Utica finished the game with 15 shots, 13 draw control wins and 14 groundballs.

Brockport finished the first quarter with a 7-0 lead behind four Hailey Lewkovich goals.

The Golden Eagles scored the first two goals of the second quarter, taking a 9-0 lead. Kolb scored Utica's first goal with 2:56 remaining in the second as Brockport entered halftime with a 9-1 advantage.

Brockport scored seven goals in the second half, four in the third quarter and three in the fourth.

Maria scored on a free-position attempt only one minute into the fourth quarter to notch Utica's second goal.
