Adele Crayton (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) and Bennett Melit have been named the Pioneer Athletes of the Week for the week of October 19th.

Crayton had a pair of strong outings as the freshman continued to find her footing during a massive two-win week. The Taconic Hills graduate helped the Pioneers extend their winning streak to four games thanks to two goals and two assists, along with a game-winner on Wednesday. During a 2-1 win over Nazareth, Crayton collected the final goal, redirecting a shot from outside the circle to give the Pioneers an insurmountable advantage. Then, during a Saturday showdown against previously 10-2 Brockport, Crayton continued to collect points, being involved in all three of the Pioneers' goals as she notched one score and two assists in a 3-2 upset. Crayton would close out the contest by intercepting a pass right in front of the Brockport cage and finding Mia Benincasa (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) with a pinpoint pass, leading to the decisive goal.

Crayton and the Pioneers will host an Empire 8 match-up against St. John Fisher on Wednesday.

Melita and the Pioneers traveled to New Jersey to compete in the Rowan Border Battle, featuring many strong programs from the Northeast. In the 174-runner field, Melita claimed the individual title, crossing the 8k finish line after 26:39.1. His finish came almost 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up. The senior runner was paced fifth overall at the one-mile split, but was clocked in first place by nearly five seconds at the three-mile split, a lead he would only extend over the remainder of the race.

Melita and the Pioneers will attend the Hamilton Short Course Tune-Up in Hamilton, NY on Saturday.
