Joe Perrotta was hired in the summer of 2018 as an assistant baseball coach to Joe Milazzo.
Prior to Utica College, Perrotta assisted Jason Rathbun at Herkimer Community College for the past two years, helping guide Herkimer to over 50 wins during those two years including a trip to the NJCAA Division 3 World Series in 2018.
Born and raised in East Utica, Perrotta graduated from Herkimer CC in 2010, where he helped lead the team to a regional championship and eventual 3rd place finish in the NJCAA World Series. Perrotta accepted a scholarship to Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, in the division 2 powerhouse Sunshine State Conference. As a junior, Perrotta was an anchor in the bullpen, leading the Fighting Knights in appearances (23), posting a 3-2 record with 3 saves, and an ERA under 3.70. Lynn finished the year 35-15, climbing all the way up to #4 in the NCAA Division 2 national rankings. As a senior, Perrotta was the #1 starter for the Fighting Knights, posting a 5-5 record with a sub 3.60 ERA. He led the Sunshine State Conference for regular season innings pitched, with 89 2/3.
After graduation, Perrotta had brief stints in the Frontier League with the Washington Wild Things, and the CanAm League with the Ottawa Champions. His career was cut short due to elbow injuries.
Perrotta attended Thomas R. Proctor high school in Utica, winning the only state championship in school history in 2007, as well as back to back sectional championships.
Perrotta currently resides in Utica, and he is pursuing his master’s degree at Utica College.
