Danielle Freshnock was hired in the Summer of 2014 as the assistant coach of the Utica College field hockey program. Freshnock will assist Head Coach Sarah Elleman with all facets of the program including recruiting, scouting, practice and game preparation.
Freshnock comes to Utica after graduating from Division I Rutgers University in the Spring of 2014. Over the course of four seasons as a member of the Scarlet
Freshnock played in 64 career
games at Rutgers Knight's field hockey program, she played in 64 games, while starting 41. She finished her career with 20 points, on nine goals and six assists, to go along with four game-winning goals. She was a member of the 2011 Rutgers field hockey team that placed fourth in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament.
She ranked third on the team in points (16) during her junior campaign in 2012. That same season she tallied five goals, including a career-high two against Lousiville (Oct. 12), one of which was the game-winner. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll following her performance at Louisville. In her senior season both of her recorded goals were game-winners. She was also named a 2012-2013 BIG EAST Academic All-Star for her excellence in the classroom.
In 2013, she was the U16 Head Coach for the USA Field Hockey Futures at Monmouth University. Â
Originally from Middletown N.J., she is a 2010 graduate of Middletown High School where she broke the school-record with 79 goals and 53 assists. She was a two-time All-Shore First Team selection and helped Middletown capture three (2006-2008) Shore Conference A North Division titles. She was also a member of the 2006 NJSIAA NJII Group IV Championship team and she was a member of the USA Field Hockey Futures Elite program.
Born on January 20, 1992, Danielle is the daughter of Kenny and Darlene Freshnock and she has two younger siblings. She has a brother, Chad and a sister, Devon, who is currently a sophomore on the field hockey team at Rutgers University. Danielle currently resides in Utica and will be pursuing her master's degree at Utica College.
