Dave Watrous

Dave Watrous

Dave Watrous was hired in the summer of 2008 to serve as the assistant linebackers coach for the Utica College football program.

His previous coaching experience includes a five year stint as the assistant coach at nearby Waterville High School where he guided the Indians to the New York State Class C Sectional finals in 2004.  Off the field he is a full-time social studies teacher at Waterville High School. 

Watrous most recently earned a master’s in education from the University of New England in 2004. Prior to attending New England he earned two bachelor’s degrees including a social studies education degree from SUNY Oswego in 2001 and a history degree from St. John Fisher College in 1996. 

Watrous played four years of college football.  His collegiate career began at Ulster County Community College where he played two years of offensive line prior to joining St. John Fisher’s football program as a linebacker for his final two years of eligibility. 

Originally from Clyde, NY, he graduated from Clyde Savannah Central in 1990 and was a member of both the football and baseball teams. 

Watrous is also an active member of the New York State High School Football Coach’s Association. 

He currently resides in Utica with his wife Janice and children David and Allyson.
