Zuril Hendrick was first hired by Utica in the Summer of 2019 as an assistant football coach responsible for running backs. He returns to the sidelines in 2022 for a second stint with the program, working primarily with the defensive backs. He assists with all facets of the football program.Â
Hendrick is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his degree in Business administration. He was a four-year member of the football team, and became one of the nation’s most prominent defensive backs in any division of the NCAA during his time with the Scots. He did not miss a game over his four years, with 44 career appearances. Hendrick recorded 195 career tackles, and has a school-record 21 career interceptions. He also holds the record for picks in a single season with nine in the 2017 season, a figure that also led all Division II players that year. Hendrick was also part of a massive turnaround at Edinboro that saw the Scots go from 0-11 in his freshman season, to 9-2 in his sophomore season, his first year as a starter.Â
He was named a Division II All-American and an All-Region selection in his junior and senior seasons with the Scots, and that national recognition lent itself to Hendrick getting a chance to shine at the next level. Hendrick received two NFL rookie mini camp invitations, one with the Chicago Bears, and the other with the Denver Broncos.
Hendrick also has experience working with youth, particularly as a coach and sports camp counselor in his native Rochester.
A graduate of Pittsford-Mendon High School, Hendrick now resides in Utica.
