Juliano Pagliero

Juliano Pagliero

Juliano Pagliero was hired as the assistant men's hockey coach in the Summer of 2011. 

He came to Utica after a successful playing career throughout the collegiate and professional ranks. After playing for one year in the Italian First Division, he recently wrapped up his professional goaltending career with Rio Grande Valley of the Central Hockey League.

Pagliero played four years of NCAA Division I hockey at Niagara University and in his senior campaign he was named the College Hockey America (CHA) Conference Player of the Year. For his efforts, he was nominated for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award, which is awarded annually to the top college hockey player in the nation. He was a three-time CHA All-Conference selection and he helped guide the Purple Eagles to an NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the CHA Conference Championship in 2008. He also helped Niagara win two CHA regular season titles (2006, 2007).

He was invited to two NHL camps following his junior and senior seasons at Niagara. In 2008 he attended the Ottawa Senators development camp and in 2009 he participated in the Chicago Blackhawks development camp.

Originally from Western Canada, he played three seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (2002-2005) before taking over goaltending duties at Niagara. In 2005 he was named the SJHL Goalie of the Year while playing for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

His coaching experience includes three years as the head instructor at the Greg Gardner Goalie School (2006-2008) in Lewiston, NY. He also spent three years as an instructor at the Niagara University Hockey School, teaching players ages 8-17.
