Utica College Head Softball Coach Pat Mineo announced the hiring of Danielle Alpi as the program’s assistant coach in the Summer of 2015.  Alpi, a 2015 graduate of Utica College, will assist Mineo with all facets of the program including scouting, recruiting, practice and game preparation, as well as day-to-day operations in the office.

Alpi joins the staff after spending the Spring 2015 semester as the team’s manager.  During her time as team manager she worked alongside Mineo throughout practices and she also spent time as the public address announcer during softball games at Greenman Field. She also assisted with the Pioneers’ softball clinic and helped out with team statistics.

During her high school days, Alpi was a standout softball player for Southold High School where she pitched and played outfield.  She was a two-time all-league selection; she was named the team’s most valuable player in her junior campaign and as a senior she was awarded the United States Army Reserve Scholar Athlete Award.

She earned her Criminal Justice degree from Utica College and registered a grade point average of 3.54.  She spent time as an intern in the College’s Economic Crime, Justice Studies and Cybersecurity programs where she produced monthly newsletters and assisted the Dean’s office in day-to-day operations.

Alpi also spent one year as the managing editor of the College’s student newspaper, The Tangerine. For her efforts she was selected as the Owen Comora/Raymond Simon Institute Tangerine Award winner, which is given out to the staff member who contributed most to the success of the newspaper over the course of the year.
