The 2013 edition of the Pioneers set new school standards for batting average (.355), slugging percentage (.507), on base percentage (.407), most runs scored (322), most hits (482), most doubles (63), most home runs (46), most RBIs (289), most at bats (1359), games played (48), lowest opponent batting average (.245), stolen bases (78), total bases (689), innings pitched (312.1), most strikeouts (217), most put outs (937) and most assists (384).

Last Spring Utica won the Empire 8 Conference regular season title and the right to host the conference tournament for the first time in program-history.  After finishing second in the conference tournament, the Pioneers earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program-history.

In 2012, Ciccarello earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Sport Management while minoring in Business Administration at the State University of Fredonia. She played four years of softball for the Blue Devils and she was a member of three straight All-Academic Teams in addition to being named to the Dean’s List in 2010, 2011 and 2012.  She played in 84 career games and registered 35 hits, while guiding the Blue Devils to 72 wins in four years.  In 2011, she helped her team to 26 victories and an appearance in the SUNYAC Conference Tournament, while batting .300 in 28 games.

She brings several skills to the team from working as a sports specialist and care camp counselor at the YMCA of greater Rochester.  Skills such as leadership, management, planning and scheduling will all aid in assisting the team on and off the field.

Ciccarello also spent time as an intern in the Fredonia State Sports Information Department under the tutelage of Jerry Reilly. During her time in the Sports Information Department she helped develop game day programs, updated the athletics website, helped with game day management and worked with the design program Photoshop.

Originally from Sodus, NY, Gabrielle graduated from Greece Olympia High School (Rochester, NY) with an impressive 3.6 GPA. She is the daughter of Maribeth Weed and Tony Ciccarello.  Her father Tony spent time as the head softball coach at SUNY Geneseo.
