Head Coach Claire McLain announced the hiring of Brittnee McGuire as the new assistant of the women's soccer program on August 1, 2011. McGuire will be responsible for assisting McLain with all facets of the program including recruiting, scouting, game and practice preparation, and day-to-day operations in the office.
“I am excited to have Brittnee as a part of the staff,” said McLain, who enters her eighth season with the Pioneers. “She will be such as asset to our recruiting campaign, she has great energy and is eager to get out on the road and meet some future Pioneers!”
McGuire recently graduated from Elmira College where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Childhood Education and Sociology with a minor in Anthropology. She was a member of the women's soccer and softball teams during her time as a student-athlete at Elmira. She was honored with the Academic Recognition Award from 2007-2010 and she also garnered the Iris Leadership Award based on academics and student leadership.
She was captain of the softball team from 2008-2010 and was named Women's Softball Impact Player of the Year in her senior campaign. For her efforts she was recognized as an Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team selection.
McGuire has experience working as a soccer camp Instructor at Herkimer County Community College and she is a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard to go along with her First Aid/CPR certificates. Some of her other experience includes working as a teacher's aide at Herkimer Elementary School (2010), College Housing Recruitment (HCCC), and she is still currently a substitute teacher.
Back in 2006, McGuire was captain of the Herkimer High School varsity soccer team and she earned Second Team All-Conference in 2006. She was also named to the 2006 All-Star Soccer Team and granted Defensive Player of the Year.
Brittnee currently resides in her hometown of Herkimer, NY.
