Hannah Stephan

Hannah Stephan was hired in the Summer of 2013 as an athletic assistant for the Utica College volleyball team and will assist first-year Head Coach Aris Bird with all facets of the program.  Stephan’s responsibilities will include recruiting, scouting, practice and game preparation along with day-to-day operations in the office.

She joins the UC Volleyball team that is coming off a 9-21 overall season and looks to expand on last year’s success.  Stephan recently graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam in May 2103 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Adolescent Education with Middle School Extension and has her New York State Teaching Certification in Social Studies Education grades 7-12.

While at Potsdam, Hannah was a Dean’s List recipient three consecutive years (2010-2012) and an advocate for Bully and Suicide Prevention as well as a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor.  She worked as a tutor in Sociology, Anthropology and History in which she prepared students for quizzes and exams along with helping them develop new study methods and worked with advisors on reviewing their goals. 

Stephan was a member of the Potsdam Volleyball and Lacrosse programs from 2011-2012. In 13 career games on the hardwood, Stephan tallied eight total blocks (six solo), five kills, two service aces and two digs as the team went 19-17 overall in 2011.

Her work experience includes two teaching stints at Potsdam High School and Franklin Academy in Malone, NY.  In the Fall of 2012 and Spring of 2013, she was a substitute/student teacher at Potsdam High in Government, Economics and Global Studies for the 10th and 12th grade. While at Franklin in the Spring of 2012, she taught regents Global for 9th and 10th graders as well as working with students from accelerated to learning disabled.

Originally from Waterloo, NY, Hannah was a three-sport athlete at Waterloo High School participating in Volleyball, Basketball and Lacrosse. A four-year letter winner in volleyball, she was named Most Valuable Player in 2009 and Best Offensive Award in 2008.  She was also a recipient of the 2009 Coaches Award in basketball as Waterloo won the League Championship. 

Hannah is currently residing in Utica, NY where she is studying for her Master’s Degree at UC.
