UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's wrestling team will open its inaugural season this weekend in Williamsport, PA for the Lycoming Invitational at Lycoming College on Sunday at 10 a.m.

At The Helm: Adam Greene is set to lead the Pioneers in their first year of competition. Previously, Greene was the head coach of Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan from 2020-2021 and was the program's first coach since its resurgence after its three-decade pause. Greene also has experience as an assistant coach at Brandon High School in Florida before returning to SUNY Oneonta in October 2021. Greene obtained his bachelor's degree in sociology from SUNY Oneonta in 2016 before finishing his master's degree in counselor education in 2019 at SUNY Oneonta. Greene previously wrestled at SUNY Oneonta from 2013-2016 while also serving two stints as an assistant coach at his alma mater. From 2016-2018 at Oneonta, Greene helped guide the team to three straight 12-win seasons including appearances in three consecutive NCAA Division III Championship Meets. He has served as a high school counselor at Hillsborough County Public Schools numerous times while being an assistant coach at the school.Â

Season Outlook: The Pioneers' first season of competition will feature:

- St. John Fisher Tri-Meet on Wednesday, January 10 at 5 p.m.Â

- SUNY Cortland Duals on Saturday, January 20 at 1 p.m.
- Johnson & Wales University Open on Sunday, January 28 at 10 a.m.

125: At 125lbs the Pioneers welcome three wrestlers in
Rian Kirker (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook),
Marco Milankovic (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park), and
James Post (Ilion, NY/Ilion). Kirker is a freshman out of Red Hook, NY. He attended Red Hook High School and had a fantastic career going 107-37 overall. Kirker completed his High school career as a two-time NYSPHSAA state qualifier and Fargo National qualifier. Milankovic joins Utica as a freshman from Deer Park, NY and graduated from Deer Park High School. He was named wrestling team captain his senior year. Post, out of Ilion, NY comes into Utica with much experience under his belt. He is a six year army veteran and looks to make an immediate impact.Â

Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) is the Pioneers' only wrestler at 133lbs. Cortright hails from Binghamton, NY and is a graduate of Chenango Valley High School. He was a part of the Gorilla Grapplers Wrestling Club and was a three-time All-State selection in New York and was a senior All-American.

141: Coming in at 141lbs, two wrestlers join the Pioneers. Sophomore
Billy Beseth (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) and freshman
Mikael Neris (Medford, NY/Bellport). Beseth comes from Jamesville, NY and is a graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School. At Jamesville-DeWitt, Beseth was named 2017-18 Rookie of the Year, 2021-22 team outstanding wrestler and sectional runner up. Neris is a freshman out of Medford, NY. Neris graduated from Bellport High school as a Suffolk County League 4 Champion.Â

Mathews Bonato (Syracuse, NY/Liverpool) and Eddy Corporon arrive at Utica as the only two in the 149lb weight class. Bonato hails from Syracuse and a graduate of Liverpool High School. Corporan comes from Poughkeepsie, NY and graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School.Â

Alexis Vividor (Hempstead, NY/Holy Trinity) is Utica's lone 157 pounder. Vividor is from Hempstead, NY and graduated from Holy Trinity. At Holy Trinity he earned All-League and All-State honors.Â

165: The 165lb weight class features two wrestlers, freshman
Anthony Kelly (Syracuse, NY/Liverpool) and junior
Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain). Kelly is from Syracuse and attended Liverpool High School. At Liverpool he earned All-CNY Wrestler award. Richardson hails from Fort Plain, NY and graduated from Fort Plain High School. He was a three-time team captain and was a First-Team All-Conference in 2020.Â

Logan Krouse (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) is Utica's lone wrestler at 174lbs. Krouse is from Duanesburg, NY and graduated from Duanesburg High School.Â

184: Utica freshman
Conner Shaw (Pulaski, NY/Pulaski) is Utica's only wrestler at 184lbs. He comes from Pulaski, NY and graduated from Pulaski High School. Shaw was a wrestling captain for the APW-Pulaski Rebel Devils where he won over 100 matches and received the most outstanding wrestler award as a senior.Â

197: At 197lbs the Pioneers welcome two wrestlers, freshman
Andrew Mickel (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) and
Gage Tedesco (Waverly, NY/Waverly). Mickel comes from Amsterdam, NY and spent his four years of high school there. Tedesco is from Waverly, NY and graduated from Waverly High School. Tedesco earned the 2021 New Comer Award.Â

John McCollum (Lowville, NY/Lowville Academy) rounds out the chart as Utica's only heavyweight. He comes from Lowville, NY and he graduated from Lowville Academy.Â
