Utica, NY (2-4-13) – Sophomore Louie Educate, of the nationally-ranked No. 3/8 Utica College men’s hockey team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his efforts on the ice this weekend.
Educate, UC’s leading scorer, put home the game-winner Sunday afternoon to knock off top ranked No. 5/5 Hobart College, 1-0, at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The Chicago, IL native also added a score Friday night in Utica’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Statesmen.
The first-year Pioneer is currently eighth in the country in points (1.57 P/GM) and goals per game (.67 G/GM). On the season, he has tallied nine multi-point games including an impressive six-point night back on Nov. 16 where he rattled off four scores and two assists.
UC is currently 17-4 on the season including an 8-3 mark in the ECAC Men’s West Conference and occupies second place with 16 points. The Pioneers return to the ice Friday for their final regular-season home game against Nazareth College. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
