Junior linebacker Sean Hulser of the Utica College Football team was named the College's Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Filling in for injured starter Dana Christofferson, Hulser made the most of his first opportunity to start this season in Utica’s 25-16 win over Union, and he did so quickly.  Hulser picked off Union quarterback Connor Eck with 3:04 remaining in the first quarter and returned the interception 30 yards for UC’s first touchdown of the evening.  Hulser had a season-high seven tackles in the Saturday night win.

Hulser’s interception also helped spark a Pioneer offense that struggled to produce in the first quarter. Utica finished the quarter with just 36 yards of offense, but picked up 263 yards and two touchdowns following Hulser’s interception return as the Pioneers defeated Union for the third consecutive season.

The Pioneers return to the gridiron next Saturday night when they travel to nationally-ranked No. 7 Hobart College to take on the Statesmen at 7 p.m.
