Morgan Reed of the Utica College women’s ice hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.

The sophomore from Fort Meyers, Florida helped lead the charge in two wins over SUNY Canton this past weekend. On Friday, Reed had the only goal in the first period and assisted on another one in second in a 3-2 victory over the Kangaroos. On Saturday, Reed assisted on the eventual game-winning goal in the second period and added a second assist on the next goal to put the game out of reach as the Pioneers won 4-1.

In all, Reed totaled four points on the weekend with one goal and three assists between both games. She has four goals and 10 assists on the season, and has recorded a point in nine of the Pioneers’ ten games. She currently ranks second on the team in scoring behind senior All-American Megan Meyers (18 points). She is tied for seventh in the ECAC Women’s West Conference with an average of 1.40 points per game. Reed also leads the team and ranks sixth in the conference with an average of 1.00 assists per game.

Over the course of 37 career games she now has 30 points on ten goals and 20 assists. Her ten assists this season have matched her total output from her freshman campaign.

UC returns to action Saturday, Jan. 11th to host nationally-ranked No. 3 Norwich University at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The puck is scheduled to drop at 4 p.m.
