Utica, NY (12/8/14) – Mikey Maxwell of the Utica College women’s swim and dive team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for her performance over the weekend.

The Pioneers beat Cazenovia 116-104 and moved back to .500 with a record of 4-4. In each of the past three meets, Maxwell has placed in the top-3 in the 50 yard freestyle. She is averaging a time of 27.08 in those three meets.

Against Cazenovia, Maxwell, won the 100 yard freestyle, the one-meter dive and placed second in the 50 yard freestyle. She posted a time of 27.25 in the 50 freestyle and was only .04 from placing first. Maxwell had a time of 1:00.74 in the 100 yard freestyle to edge past her opponents’ time of 1:00.99.

The Pioneers will have a month off to prepare for an Empire 8 match up against Alfred University. The event is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. January 10th.
