Utica, NY – Gabriella Caccamo of the Utica College softball team has been named the UC Female Athlete of the Week for her pitching in the team’s season opener over the weekend.
 
Caccamo received the start against Mount St. Joseph this past weekend in the team’s first game of the 2019 season. She would end up going the distance, pitching a complete game, three-hit shutout to help UC win 2-0. Gabriella struck out two batters and only walked two batters in the win, starting the season 1-0 in the circle.
 
The Pioneers split the opening day 1-1 to kick-off the season, and continue their trip in Florida on Monday against Delaware Valley (9:15 a.m.) and Fredonia (11:30 a.m.).
