UTICA, NY – Freshman pitcher Chris Jeffers (Bishop Maginn/Albany, N.Y.) of the Utica College baseball team was named the College's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 24.

Jeffers pitched a complete-game and struck out three to pick up his first collegiate victory on Friday as UC defeated RIT 6-2. He scattered four hits over the course of seven innings and did not allow an earned run as Utica snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jeffers currently leads the Pioneers with a team-high three complete games, 17 strikeouts, and 33.2 innings pitched. He has a 3.53 earned run average and he has struck out at least one batter in each of his last four appearances.

The Pioneers return to the field Tuesday as they host Hamilton College at DeLutis Field in Rome, N.Y. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
