Kaitlyn Stinson (South Kortright, NY/South Kortright) has been named the UC Female Athlete of the Week. This marked a very big weeks for Stinson, as she was also named the Empire 8 Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. The award was announced on Monday by the conference offices in Rochester.
Stinson earns the award for a fourth time this season, and does so for her performance at this weekend's NCAA Atlantic Regional.
Stinson earned a second straight trip to the NCAA Championships following the best finish at the regional meet of her career, and the second-best regional finish in school history. She ran to a 17th place finish at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals in Canton, NY on Saturday. She clocked a time of 23:06 on the six kilometer course, and improved her time by over a minute from the pre-regional meet held one month ago.
On Sunday, Stinson received word that she would be competing in the championship as an individual at-large selection. She is the only two-time selection in school history. The NCAA Championship will be held on Saturday, November 23rd in Louisville, Kentucky.
