Utica, NY - Sophomore Guard Darius Hopkins of the Utica College men's basketball team has been named UC Male Athlete of the Week for his performance in the University of Rochester Tournament last weekend.

The Florida native tabbed game-highs in points (20) and assists (six) while grabbing six boards en route to a 78-60 opening-round win over Neumann Saturday night. Twenty points marked a season-high for Hopkins, and is his fourth 20-plus point game of his career. He did a bulk of his work from the free throw line against the Knights, as he finished the night shooting 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Hopkins continued an already stellar tournament performance the following afternoon, finishing with a team-high 17 points and three assists against Rochester in the championship game.

The 4-2 Utica College men's basketball team returns home this Wednesday for a non-conference matchup against Morrisvile State at 7 p.m.
