Makayla Purdy has been named a Pioneer Athlete of the Week for the week of May 5th, 2026.
Purdy had an awesome week for a Pioneer team that made a return trip to the Empire 8 Semifinals after a big opening round win over Hartwick. In that matchup, Purdy managed to make eight saves, holding back the Hawks from getting established in the matchup as she led the team to an 18-9 win and a berth in the Semifinals. Purdy also hit a massive milestone with that first-round victory, notching her 29th career victory in net, which cemented her as the sole holder of the career goalie wins program record. Purdy, who's still just a junior, was also named to the Empire 8 All-Tournament Team for her work in the Pioneers' postseason run.
