The Utica College women's ice hockey team shut out host Castleton State 3-0 Tuesday night in the regular-season opener for the Pioneers.
Utica scored a goal in each period and junior goalie Stephanie Yates (California Selects/Garden Grove, CA) tallied her first shut out of the year tallying 15 saves on the evening.
Junior forward Stephanie Price (Little Caesars/River Rouge, MI) tallied two goals and one assist, while classmate Deana Wiegand (Belle Tire/Utica, MI) assisted on two goals and scored one of her own.
Forward Mandy Finkle (Little Caesars/Milford MI) assisted on all three goals for the Pioneers, who out shot Castleton 57-15.
Utica (1-0) returns to action at 2 p.m. Sunday against host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
