The Utica College women's tennis team played in the Empire 8 Conference Championship this past weekend. The conference was held at RIT where the Pioneers went 0-3 against Hartwick, Alfred and Ithaca.

The Pioneers clenched a win against Hartwick making the final score 8-1. Jessica Hunt (Lewistown High/Lewistown, ME) had the lone win in a singles match for the pioneers 7-6, 6-3, 7-6.

In the Pioneers second contest against Alfred the Pioneers improved to a 6-3 loss. Diana Piekielniak (T.R. Proctor/Utica) and Annie Thiel (Hamden/Hamden, CT) won 8-4 in doubles, while Pieklielniak also won two straight sets in singles 6-4, 6-0. Jessica Hunt (Lewistown High/Lewistown, ME) contributed a win for the Pioneers winning 6-0, 6-0 in singles.

UC's last match of the championship was a tough loss against Ithaca. The Pioneers went 9-0.

The UC women's tennis team ends their fall season 1-9 overall.
